Keep it simple. Keep it metal.

Blek Goat Wednesday Tunes – Dissection

I’ve been wanting to write something about Dissection for a little while now and today I finally took some time off, to get it done. And it’s the perfect timing for this week’s edition of Blek Goat’s Wednesday Tunes feature.

It was about 13 or so years ago (I believe) when a schoolmate brought me the “Storm Of The Light’s Bane” CD, that his sister owned. I had no idea what this band, Dissection, was all about, but I could not wait to get home from school and tune it in. I was down immediately and from then on, the first few months, listening to it non-stop. It is now 2015 and I am still listening to Dissection a lot, especially their last album “Reinkaos.” No, I am not into Satanic stuff, the music is just amazing. It is different and many complain that this is not what they are (were) all about, but I think it is a masterpiece. It’s because of “Reinkaos” that got me wondering, are they literally my favorite band? They are one of a few bands that I am listening to for well over a decade and still don’t bore me.

I actually don’t like choosing favorite bands, but if someone would ask me, “If you’d need to pick only one metal band to listen to until the end of your days, which would it be?” I would probably go with Dissection.

It was summer 2005 when I finally got a chance to see them live. Unfortunately I do not remember which songs the played, but I remember the intro. It was pretty much like a satanic ritual. I could not believe my eyes. It was mesmerizing. I was hooked, nailed to the grown and probably watching the whole show with my mouth widely open. It surely was one insanely good show, especially since they are one of my favorites.

Please understand, I really, Really like their music, but I am far from liking Jon’s thinking. Not my cup of tea and it doesn’t even make any sense discussing it. It is their music that I am addicted to and that is pretty much it.

This is the video from Dissection’s very last song performed at their very last show in Stockholm, Sweden.
